OBF ensures safety by making the part of the device that accumulates all the droplets (the tube) single-use, ensuring that no potentially contagious particles remain in the device. In the case of external suction units with arms, they require filtering through a HEPA filter, which either is very effective or, on the contrary, will cause dispersion of the aerosols throughout the room. Additionally, these units have a noise level of around 65 decibels, making work very uncomfortable for more than two hours. They also obstruct the daily work of clinic staff in the leg and arm area, making the patient uncomfortable.
OBF is flexible so that it can adapt to different mouth sizes and thus not be uncomfortable for patients. It ensures safety by making the part of the device that accumulates all droplets single-use, ensuring that no potentially contagious particles remain in the device. The mouthpiece, on the other hand, can be reused, thus avoiding the need to dispose of it each time.
